Blankets

Mexico’s textiles are world famous and as timeless as Mexico herself. The Aztecs and Maya wove blankets from local fibers like cotton, agave, and wool for clothing and protection from the cold. They favored bright colors and believed that wearing them would bring favor from the gods and keep evil spirits away. When Spanish weaving techniques and sheep's wool were introduced, there was a fusion in textiles birthing many of our most popular blankets, sarapes, rebosos, rugs and tapestries that we know and love today. Mexican blankets and textiles are cherished for their cultural significance and are used for a variety of purposes including decorating homes, as bedspreads, throw blankets, rugs, table runners or wall-hangings and lending themselves for every day uses such as yoga blankets, beach blanket, camping blanket, seat cover, picnic blanket, dog blanket, and much more.
